Lower Blepharoplasty

Almost always a cosmetic procedure, to improve puffy lower eyelid "bags" or to reduce wrinkling of skin. This is done either through a skin incision, called trans-cutaneous approach or through the inner aspect of the eyelid, called trans-conjunctival approach.  Incisions made on the inside of the eyelids in the trans-conjunctival approach are not visible.Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty reduces excess fat from within the lower eyelids through incisions which are then closed with fine sutures.

Forehead/Brow Lift

A forehead lift, also known as a browlift or browplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to elevate a drooping eyebrow that may obstruct vision and/or to remove the deep worry lines that run across the forehead and may portray to others anger, sternness, hostility, fatigue or other unintended emotions.  There are different methods of elevating the brow:

  • Coronal Brow lift/Hairline Brow lift : May be used when the individual has a high forehead, the incision may be made directly on the hairline.
  • Direct Brow lift: This procedure elevates eyebrows by removing excess skin above the eyebrows.
  • Indirect Brow lift : This procedure elevates eyebrows via and eyelid-crease incision
  • Endoscopic Brow lift: The endoscopic brow lift technique uses a small, pencil-like camera device connected to a television monitor.
  • Endotine implants: Endotine is a patented system for anchoring soft tissue during aesthetic surgery, using small resorbable tines to reduce the tissue strain associated with sutures.  This unique system allows surgeons to re-adjust tissue fixation and location during surgery, resulting in optimal aesthetic outcomes.  Endotine® implants provide reliable fixation throughout the post-operative healing period, and eventually resorb as biological fixation takes over.  Endotine® is used in a variety of facial procedures, including brow lifts, midface lifts, face lifts and neck lifts

A facelift A Facelift (Rhytidectomy) is a surgical procedure designed to smooth and firm the skin, providing a fresh, youthful appearance.  Throughout one’s life, the sun’s radiation, stress, gravity, and other factors cause the skin to sag and fit more loosely.  Areas of the face and neck, in particular around the jaw line, are especially prone to the aging process.  Though these changes are gradual, wrinkles and other signs of aging can make individuals “feel older” than they really are.  Surgery for a facelift involves the contraction and realignment of facial and neck skin, and in some instances the removal of excess fat deposits.  A facelift is often performed in combination with other facial cosmetic procedures and can be performed any time signs of aging begin to appear.  However, patients are generally in their forties or older when they elect to undergo this procedure.

KYBELLA™ (deoxycholic acid) injection, also known as ATX-101, is the first and only FDA-approved injectable drug that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness due to submental fat.  Submental fullness due to submental fat, sometimes referred to as ”double chin,” is a common, yet under treated facial aesthetic condition. It can detract from an otherwise balanced and harmonious facial appearance – leading to an older and heavier look.  Submental fullness can impact a broad range of adults, and is not limited to people who are overweight. This condition can impact men or women of average weight and can be caused by aging, genetics and weight gain. It is often resistant to diet and exercise alone.  KYBELLA™ is a non-human and non-animal formulation of deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the break down and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into subcutaneous fat, KYBELLA™ causes the destruction of fat cells.

Sculptra Aesthetic

Sculptra Aesthetic works to replace lost collagen in a series of treatments. On average, 3 injection sessions are needed over a period of a few months, to produce noticeable results that emerge subtly and can last more than 2 years. It begins to work within the deep dermis, where your skin’s structure is reinforced as Sculptra Aesthetic helps to replace lost collagen. This reinforced collagen structure provides a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness of your shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds that have depleted over time. The result? Sculptra Aesthetic is different because it gradually and subtly corrects these facial wrinkles and folds. This can provide a refined, more youthful looking appearance that can last up to two years.

Botulinum is a prescription medicine that is injected by a medical professional into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of both moderate to severe wrinkles.  It can also be used for the temporary relief of medical conditions such as blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, migraines, hyperhidrosis, etc.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Restylane, Perlane/Lyft, Silk, Belotero, Juvederm, Voluma  The most popular category of wrinkle fillers is hyaluronic acid. Each type works in a slightly different way with varying results.Side effects are rare but can include redness, swelling, and bruising at the injection site. The filler may also show up under the skin as tiny bumps. This is a problem that often improves over time. How long the results last varies from several months to over a year or two. Some research shows that repeated injections may help stimulate the body's own natural production of collagen. That will help reduce the number of lines and wrinkles. There is also some evidence that less filler is needed over time to achieve the same look.

PRP/Vampire Lift

The "Vampire Facelift" is a procedure that involves withdrawing a patient's own blood, processing it to create "platelet-rich plasma (PRP)," then re-injecting it to erase wrinkles and create a more youthful look. Selphyl is another type of PRP facelift procedure that uses a similar technique.  Platelets are key factors in hard and soft tissue repair mechanisms. They provide the essential growth factors FGF, PDGF, TGF-ß, EGF, VEGF, IGF that are involved in stem cell migration, differentiation and proliferation. The stimulation of fibroblasts and endothelial cells induces new extracellular matrix deposition and neo-vascularization.  Plasma is essential for cell survival as it contains nutrients, vitamins, hormones, electrolytes and proteins. Proteins are key molecules for the coagulation process and the formation of the fibrin polymer that will serve as a scaffold for cell migration, differentiation and proliferation

 Upper Blepharoplasty

Removes excess skin (dermatochalasis) and fat from the upper eyelid. This is one of the most common procedures for women and men.  If the redundant skin is resting on the eyelashes and/or covers the eye so as to cause a loss of upper field of vision, it may be covered by insurance.  Photographs and visual field testing are performed and may need to be submitted for insurance prior authorization (click here to learn more)The benefits of upper lid blepharoplasty are increased comfort (the patient doesn’t have to elevate the eyebrow to lift the skin off the lashes or raise the eyelid), increased upper field of vision, and cosmetic enhancement. In women, a lid crease and platform to apply make-up on the upper lid can be created.

Eyelid Ptosis (droop)

Eyelid ptosis is an abnormally low position (drooping) of the upper eyelid, which occurs when the muscles that raise the eyelid (levator and Müller's muscles) are not strong enough to do so properly.  It can affect one eye or both eyes and is more common in the elderly, as muscles in the eyelids may begin to deteriorate.  Ptosis may be due to a myogenic, neurogenic, aponeurotic, mechanical or traumatic cause and it usually occurs isolated, but may be associated with various other conditions, like immunological, degenerative, or hereditary disorders, tumors, or infection.  Click here to learn more

  • Levator resection (Anterior/External approach)Skin incision Adjustment may be done while patient is awake; May be combined with a cosmetic upper blepharoplasty
  • Müller muscle resection  (Posterior / Internal approach )Ideal for patients with minimal excess skin; No visible skin incision; May be combined with cosmetic upper blepharoplasty.  Candidates for this procedure respond to 2.5% phenylephine drops placed behind the upper eyelid.

Midface Lift

This procedure restores cheek volume and establishes more youthful midface contours. The result is a natural, revitalized appearance that doesn’t appear overdone or “pulled.” A midface lift will deliver a natural but noticeable improvement. It is frequently performed with other surgeries, such as a lower face lift, eyelid surgery, or a brow lift. However, for many younger patients, under 45 years old, midface rejuvenation is often a stand-alone procedure.

Neck Lift

A neck lift (platysmaplasty) is performed to correct sagging loose skin and/or an abundance of fatty tissue in the neck area. Many times the neck muscle (platysma) is weak or becomes separated and needs to be reconnected and tightened. Sagging skin can also extend posteriorly to include the side of the neck, resulting in "jowls." Small surgical incisions can be made under the chin or behind the ear as part of a neck lift. This procedure can help to reverse some of the signs of aging, making patients feel and look younger.

Earlobe Surgery

Torn/stretched earlobes can occur gradually from wearing heavy earrings, from fashion earrings that gradually enlarge the earlobe piercing, or suddenly from traumaTorn earlobe surgery is a fairly simple in-office procedure that restores the earlobe shape and allows the patient to wear earrings again after re-piercing

CO2RE Fractional Laser

How do I know if CO2RE treatments are right for me? Ideal candidates for CO2RE are in their 30’s or older with skin damaged by exposure to the sun, age spots, fine lines, discoloration, rough texture and other skin imperfections. It is ideal for anyone seeking younger looking skin without the long downtime associated with conventional resurfacing procedures. What is the CO2RE procedure like?  You can expect some moderate discomfort during the treatment, but the anesthetic applied prior to the procedure typically makes any discomfort tolerable.
